3 Reasons to
Grow Organic

By: Chris

Reason #1 - Health
The health benefits of daily servings of fruits & vegetables in our diets has been so well documented that it is now regarded as a nutritional law. Sadly, the use of harmful pesticides and synthetic fertilizers in these fruits and vegetables is equally well documented. This sad fact has led to an unprecedented demand for organically grown produce. Unfortunately, this demand, coupled with the costly regulations that must accompany organic food, makes this commodity and out-of-reach luxury for many cash strapped families.

Reason #2 - Cost
If you have ever been to Whole Foods, or a similar store which specializes in organic produce, you know how daunting their price spectrums can be. Three bucks for an organic tomato? Yikes! I think I'll pass. But imagine walking into one of these markets and seeing signs which read "Organic Tomatoes - 3 Cents a Pound" or "Organic Lettuce - 10 Cents a Head." What would that feel like? Well, that is exactly what happens when you grow your own vegetables. Seed + Dirt + Water + Sun = Mountains of fresh, healthy organic fruits and vegetables.

Reason #3 - Joy
Life for humans began in a garden (Genesis 2:15). This is no small thing. The Lord has given our race an intimate relationship with the land and the crops that spring forth from it. Moreover, to meditate on the glory of God in the creation of a carrot, a pea, or a strawberry is an awesome matter which should elicit praise from even the sleepiest theist.  And to have a front row seat to this cornucopian of creativity which is a vegetable garden produces a joy in the husbandman that echo's of the Creator's satisfaction when He announced the primeval benediction "...it is good."
